David Hunt Biography

Born in southern California, David Hunt spent most of his formative years traveling; he and his family lived in the Philippine Islands, China, Japan and the Pacific Rim. He spent time working as a deckhand on a charter sailboat along the Atlantic coast of the United States and the Caribbean, while the rocky coast of Maine and the deserted Leeward Islands also became a part of his visual language.

While studying product design at the University of Cincinnati, Dave had the opportunity to work with artists like Robert Fabe, Phil Foster and Reginald Grooms. His experience with these artists marked the beginning of his painting career.

His style is very illustrative, emulating the works of N.C. Wyeth, Bernie Fuchs and Mark English, often using the mark-making style and mood of his mentor, Robert Fabe.
