Scrimshaw

The following is an inventory of scrimshaw and scrimshaw related items found in the Native American collection purchased in 2025. That collection resulted from the previous owner’s life long interest in Native Americans and their culture.  That said, it seems unlikely that the scrimshawed items were done by Native Americans. Most, if not all, seem to have been done for the tourist trade or were works in progress that were never completed. As a result, some of the items could readily be repurposed for new projects. Please be advised that Bodenheimer-Mayer House Antiques and Art makes no representation as to the age of these items and we ask that all prospective buyers comply with their state’s and federal regulations governing such items.  We also encourage all prospective buyers of these or other items in our inventory to ask questions and to examine the photos closely before making a purchase.  We may be reached via email at bodenheimermayerhouse@yahoo.com.
